Hi Mark, I'm currently catching up on some foundation courses required to enter University, but I'm quite interested in Nuclear Medicine as a career. Do you have any insight to share; advantages and disadvantages of working in this field, salary, or any other areas that would prove to be a benefit to me. Do you have any regrets now that you've finished the program? Would you have chosen a different program?

Thank You and best regards,

                                                          Daniel

Hello Marc, I'm a 40 year old single man who is interested in changing careers. I am interested in this field but have a couple questions for you. First of all, I don't have a university education. Can I get a diploma in this or certificate without having to go to university?? I live in Etobicoke, is there an institution offering courses in this field in the GTA? I know SAIT in Calgary offers a 2 year diploma in it.

Is there alot of night work involved in this field? Can you choose day time work, as I have some health issues making it hard to sleep well during daytime.

What is the base Canadian salary for a Nuc. Med. Tech. starting out? I graduated from high school in '85 so I'd be a mature student. Do I need extra science background??

Thanks for fielding my questions.

Hi Marc!

I finished a 3 year radiology program in my country. And now I work as a Nuclear Medicine Technologists at institute of oncology (Im still a trainee). There is no need for any aditional certificate to work as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist here. Students are qualified for the job when they finish the radiology program (university) and have 9 months of traineeship on nuclear medicine ward. Im from europe and i was wondering what would one need to come work in Canada or U.S.? Would i have to obtain some kind of certificate? Or would my degree from here suffice.

Hi Marc,

I'm applying to a radiology program simply because there isn't a nuclear med program here in charlotte. Then after a year I'll go ahead a do the nuclear medicine. I already have a BS Chemistry and an MBA.
I know that MCG (Medical College of GA) has a semi online program, but its too long, and cost a lot. Do you know of any other online programs?
Starting out in Rad, I think is a good move. What do you think?

Hi Angel, you would need to sit and pass the Canadian exam before you were allowed to work in Canada. I've been told it's about 10 times harder then the one in the USA so study up. The link you need is www.camrt.ca

Best of luck

i'm an undergrad student at University of buffalo which has a nuclear medicine program. i'm applying into the program but john hopkins offers a shorter certificate program. Do you think i should get a BS in nuclear medicine or a certificate from a certified program. Does your level of education affect a person's salary? do you have any idea how the job market is? any advice would be appreciated. hope to hear from you soon.
